On Friday we had a guest speaker called Terry, who was a pharmacist come a talk to us about Drugs. He talked to us about medicine that can be prescribed or can be bought over the counter. These are some of the things I found out:
- Never take someone elses medicine, especially if it is prescribed to them
- Prescription drugs are more effective than drugs you can buy over the counter at a pharmacy
- You must take the exact amount of medicine that is needed because too much can be bad for you and if you have less because it means you won’t get better
- It is important to take the right amount of doses told, even if you are feeling better
- Always tell a doctor if you have a side effect to a kind of drug
- People can react differently to the same medicine
- Always read the label of your medicine carefully for instructions always make sure you know what medicine you are taking because you could have a side effect or be allergic to a drug in it
- Most things you need to know about the medicine will be on the packaging of your medicine
- Make sure you tell a doctor if you are taking any medicine before you are givin a prescription
- Even if a doctor tells you to take a medicine that you are allergic to, tell the doctor that you are allergic
- Don’t take medicine is out of date because you don’t know what will happen to you if you take it
- Some medicine can do the same things as others
What do you you think is the most important rule for taking medicine?
What is the medicine you use most often?
